Lone Jack Pine by Jeannette Lambert/Barre Phillips/Michel Lambert

I wouldn't presume to write a review of my own album, but on the off chance that anyone actually reads these reviews, they might as well hear about it from me. Plus there's the added bonus that site publisher Raquel designed the cover, so it is a kind of IMHO production in disguise.

I have always juggled my jazz standard persona against my crazy poetic self and this is, well, a case of being myself. This is improvised music, swirling around text that I've written whenever a full moon passes by. Michel adds his intense, impressionistic drums with his usual psychic energy. We were joined by our good friend, master bassist Barre Phillips. He's a consummate musician and a great role model for me in his dedication to the art of creativity. The whole thing was produced during my pregnancy. The birth of my son and the birth of the cd happened around the same time, hmmm. You know what they say - there's no such thing as coincidence. I'm really excited about this recording. It is heartfelt and unafraid!
