Pregnancy and Childbirth Tips by Gail J. Dahl
I found this book on a website for maternity clothes - it was the only book they were offering and they said, if you only get one book, get this one! Since most pregnancy books sink me into an immediate abyss of fear and anxiety, one seemed like more than enough.
And it is a slim, comforting little resource. Gail J. Dahl has combined the newest medical information with a series of relevant articles and thoughtful tips of her own. The book is divided into months, so you only need to stress on a bit of info at once. It's nice to toss it aside after absorbing just as much science as you need. And no icky diagrams or images to worry about.
I found her information on the various tests one is offered in pregnancy to be straightforward and unafraid. Some sample headings "Ultrasound - Valid Test or Smoke and Mirrors?"; "Gestational Diabetes - Fact or Fiction?". A holistic, critical approach that suits my hippy, au naturel upbringing perfectly. I also like the Chapter "Secrets to Having a Faster and Easier Labour and Delivery" - who doesn't want to know those?
And if you only ever get two pregnancy books, the Girlfriends's Guide to Pregnancy, with its humorous anecdotes and fashion tips, combined with this one are my recommendations. Also, I appreciated the Canadian point of view, with lists of resources available in this country. Made me feel like I was getting the real info that related to moi. [JL]

Thank you for the lovely review. You will be happy to know we have a new book out called, "Pregnancy & Childbirth Secrets", double the volume, more great information to make great decision from. Once again, if you only get one book, this is it. Take a look at our video website at web.mac.com/pregnancysecrets. Best wishes,
