 Confessions of an Art Addict

Out of this Century, Confessions of an Art Addict by Peggy Guggenheim

is a well-told (as opposed to well-written) account of the European and US art world in the first half of this century, lots of gossipy stories about artists and eccentrics, as well as many photos of the personalities involved. The book suffers from split personality, really being two books, one written as a much younger woman, and the other when Guggenheim had established herself as the American Grande Dame of modern art in Venice. Of course the first book is a lot more fun.
